Lots of music files that you get from friends, or that you rip by some non-free Windows software, have bad ID3 tags. Similarly and especially, in the domain of classic music, the CDDB entries are full of typing mistakes, bad interpretation and mistakes due to the improper English language in that old European domain of culture, due to unknowing people etc.
Hence, there were tools widely available in the Windows world, and a few oversized tools that would scan your entire drive in the Microsoft way, were available only; and none of them looked good.
These reasons and circumstances led to the creation of QtID3.
